London Humane Society Foster Care Program
Our Mission
To
provide shelter animals with the individualized attention in an environment
different from that of a shelter, and to allow shelter animals to receive every
last opportunity at becoming adoptable so that they can enter a forever-home.
Your
Responsibility
You will be providing a temporary stay for animals who need it the most. You
will provide a comfortable, loving environment in which these animals will be
able to realize their true potential. You will be responsible for transporting
animals to and from the shelter as well as in the event of an animal emergency.
In some cases you may be required to administer medications, in which training
will be provided by the Humane Society. *
Qualifications
18+ years of age
Time to spend with the
animal(s)
Commitment to helping
better that animals’ life
Access to a vehicle in the
event of any animal emergencies
An Isolated
space to separate fostered animals from your own pets
(Please note that your own animals must be up to date with vaccines and spayed
or neutered prior to being accepted for the foster program.)
*All food, supplies and medical care are provided by
the London Humane Society.
What is Next?
Once the animals are
nearing the end of their foster time, they will be booked in for a surgery
appointment to be spayed or neutered. Upon being spayed or neutered the animals
will return to the shelter where they will be placed up for adoption.
Although it is not our intentions to have foster families adopt the animals they
foster they are more than welcome to apply to adopt. The adoption process is
not done through the foster program and all potential adopters must follow
the adoption process. If you have a mother and kittens/puppies you will return
the mother to the shelter once the babies are weaned. Puppies and kittens will
be kept in foster care until they are able to be spayed or neutered.
If you are interested in becoming a Foster Parent for the London Humane Society

NOTE: All applications must be dropped off in person at the London Humane
Society.
